Beltane Studios Ltd. was set up by brothers Iomhar and Ruaraig Maciver in 1996 as a Fine Art bronze casting foundry and sculpture design studio .
Iomhar has a Ba(hons) in Product design from Staffordshire University in Stoke on Trent . Following this he went on to Moray House School of Education in Edinburgh where he gained his PGCE in Art and Design . He taught Product Design at Stewats Melville College in the Capital between 1993 and 2004 .
Iomhar became a Director and Company Secretary of Beltane Studios Limited when it was launched in 1996 and combined his teaching career and foundry business before taking a full time interest in the foundry .
Ruaraig studied sculpture at Kent Institute of Art and Design , Canterbury where he graduated with a Ba(hons) in Fine Art . Whilst there he earned his keep and learned his trade by working in the College's bronze foundry which was operated as a commercial concern .
After College Ruaraig worked as a free lance sculptor / designer making original artwork for resin casting before returning to work in a Fine Art bronze foundry .
Ruaraig has been the in house sculptor at Beltane Studios ever since it was set up . Along with the commercial commissions for the foundry he has maintained his own practice exhibiting at the Royal Scottish Academy , the Royal Glasgow Institute and annually at the Paisley Art Institute . He was awarded the Paisley Art Institute's Diploma of Artist Membership ( PAI ) in 2015 .
